Cool, your post just basically confirmed what species I have lol. I bought a baby from a little girl that bred them (both parents were caught in her backyard), but wasn't sure exactly what he(?) was. I suspected wandering, but the black belly was throwing me off, because I couldn't find anything that mentioned that. Everything else says cream/yellow ventral scales. Thanks Is that a fairly common trait in wandering garters?
Also, does she eat nightcrawler? Mine has decided he won't take them, was wondering if that was typical of these guys. He's a hearty eater when it comes to feeder guppies and has taken slugs on rare occasions. Maybe I should scent the worm with a fish? Just trying to give a varied diet..

many wanderings here in Utah have black bellies... up north they even have abnormal amounts of black color all over (I call them hypermelanistic, Scott Felzer calls them chocolates ) they do have quite a variety of patterns and colors. scenting a worm with a fish won't do much good.... will still smell like worm... if he is eating fish thats fine... they do take small rodents too. you can get frozen thawed pinkies and rub fish on them. I buy whole trout at WinCo and freeze them. I thaw what I need for feeding and chop it up. I mix pinkies in with the fish and with smaller ones, I chop the frozen pinkies, thaw them, and mix with the fish.

Sweet, thanks. I just got two baby easterns and decided I like them alot and need space for more lol. So, the wandering is up for grabs. He's a year old and I think he's a male, but not sure (I'm new to snakes, so I am not good at sexing them). If anybody wants him, hit me up.
