    Re: Ranch News

My biggest female T.radix Speckle has a Vet. appointment later this afternoon. A few weeks back I notice some blood in her feces so I did a fecal float and found some pin worm eggs. I treated her with panacur twice in a 2 week period. I thought things had gotten better but they haven't.
Not sure what's going on. Speckle was an adult when I found her outside the front door 4 years ago.
Hoping for the best for this big old girl.

Maybe she just needs a third round of Panacur? The vet that treated Nobby's worms prescribed three treatments, which I think were: day 1, day 4 and day 14. It's all about hitting the worms at each reproductive stage isn't it?
Fingers-crossed that the vet visit puts her right.

Speckle's visit to the Vet. when well. I took a stool sample which contained some blood.
Dr. B explained that the redness of the blood strongly suggests a problem in the small intestine. If it had been in the large intestine the blood would have started to break down. Checking her vent he found a small polyp right at the end of the cloaca. He thinks this polyp is bleeding when she defecates. He also said that she may have more inside but that there is no treatment available. He suggests I watch her poop to see if this is the culprit. If it is, he said he can laser it off or I can try using Preparation H to shrink the polyp.
I'm leaning away from any surgery to her cloaca/vent. It is almost impossible to keep infection out do to the location.
She's is also an older snake and Dr.B said she could live out her life with this situation left untreated.

Speckle's attitude is good. She is active and eating well.
Have to go now, to put ointment on her butt.
