So do they (Mustela vison) have an open season for being hunted since they are (presumably) an introduced species in Finland?

Yes and no. The law is oddly formulated, I don't know if it's intended to provide a loophole, but in a way it seems that they wanted to allow it to be hunted as intensely as possible, while still taking some animal protection aspects into consideration. A female, that is followed by offspring born this year, is protected until the end of July. If you follow the letter of the law, you could hunt males, kits (whether or not they're following a female) and females that aren't followed by its kits.

However, this one seems to be a fairly large male, so it's fair game whether or not the spirit of the law says that you can't hunt females that have offspring.

Good shooting. What kind of scope is that? I haven't seen one like it before, but then again, I haven't been looking through any hunting equipment catalogs lately.

It's a cheap discontinued BSA red dot scope. The distances involved are usually less than 10 meters, so I'd rather use iron sights if the rifle still had them.

edit: the scope is a BSA PD30.

    I know.

They are legal, but you can't get a permit for one unless you're a serious collector and even then, whoever issues the permit might still order the weapon to be deactivated or he might forbid you from using it.
