It's great getting the whole family out on the lake. We get a lot of strange looks when all 6 of us go paddling by. It took a couple of years to aquire all of them.
I converted a 19 foot boat trailer so it would hold all the kayaks, bicycles, cooler, etc. Thought about getting a personalized plate for the trailer. Here's my ideas: YAKERS......... YAKYAK........ PEDYAK........ and of course RADIX. I wonder which is my favorite

Today was the first time we were able to use the bicycle trailers I built last fall. 16 miles round trip and they performed great. We got a lot of strange looks as we made our way to the lake. Had a few people stop us and ask about the trailers and their design. I designed each trailer with a different axle and tongue configuration. Wasn'r sure which would work the best. PVC is cheap, so building 2 wasn't a big deal.
Once at the lake we secured bikes and trailers to a pole and enjoyed the water. It was just my son and I. We had a great time.

cool; so which design do you like better?

I spent my life primarily on trains today, due to the fact that I was in such a rush to get out of the house to get the earlier train to White Plains, where I was to meet the vet at the expo, to hand over Drache yet again . . . where was I? oh yes - in such a hurry that I forgot the snake and didn't realize it until we were settled in on the commuter train - over an hour into the journey
this was my one chance to get Drache to the vet without having to rent a car and do a two+ hour trip into pennsylvania (and back), and I felt it was kind of urgent that he go asap
his damn abscess has come back suddenly; noticed a tiny maybe-swelling about a week ago, and have watched it grow steadily - really wanted him to get to the vet while it was still fairly localized, so he could make out something
having camera issues right now, so no pics, but truthfully - he's so shiny, it's really hard to capture the lump on his mandible anyway
in any case - perhaps you can make out from above ramblings that something's not quite right with my brain today - it's a bit disorganized; this was a major goof-up
thankfully the commuter train stops in Harlem before leaving the city, just a block away from a subway station, and so with merely another two hours spent on the train, and a few calls made to cajole the vet to stay longer at the expo, I did get my boy to his doc, whew!

Sounds like a rather hectic day, Rhea. I'm glad things worked out and you got your snake to the vet. It's too bad the abcess returned.

Sounds like fun but I worry too much about my kids when they're out on the lake. I have to stay focused on them. My youngest is only 8 and is still new to kayaking. Maybe someday I'll be able to relax and get a line wet.

No way, then I would look like one of the parents who has their kids on a leash at Walmart.

I just worry about them flipping. So far, everyone is doing great. I guess I'll always worry.

you could always tie something to your pole, so you can retrieve it, should you have to drop it in a hurry
