I can think of a few times that happened at my house. Only difference is, the snake was real. (escapee)

I suppose it may depend on where they are from. I've never known any So. CA gopher snake to even consider eating another reptile, much less a large rattler.
ya bulls, goppers (which are closely related(bulls and gophers)),indigos, coach whips,kings....and many other snakes will prey on rattle snakes as they are immune to their venom. thats for pretty much everywhere....just caus you havent seen dosnt mean it dosent happen

That's not what I mean. What I mean is, I've kept many wild caught through the better part of a decade. Gopher snakes from Oregon and So. Cal just aren't into eating reptiles. Unlike the kings, the pacific gopher snakes I kept showed 0 interest in eating any reptile. They would curl up with rattler or any other snake without even a hint of aggression. In Oregon and CA, they share overwintering dens with rattlers and they don't bother each other. Of course, pacific gopher snakes aren't exactly the same as Utah or Texas Pituophis'.

I'm still pretty sure the zoo knows what they're doing. Obviously there's still two snakes in the enclosure and they aren't fighting.

I did a reptile presentation at a school today. Snakes and turtles.
Tank(snapping turtle) was the hit of the day.
He made many friends. I was impressed with him also.
It was his first time in a classroom.
He's an awesome turtle. I'm looking forward to many more years working with him.

It's really great that you help to educate people about reptiles, Steve. I'm sure Tank loves the attention, too. He's truly an amazing turtle!

He sat in my arms for about 10 minutes and just looked at the audience(5th&6th graders) Then I put him on a table where he sat and looked around the room. After another 15 minutes I handed him off to the teacher but Tank wasn't comfortable with her. She gave him back to me and he settled right down again.
I did warn the kids that he's not a normal snapping turtle and that they should never hold other snapping turtles like I do him. I warned them to not hold any snapping turtles.
He's a unique turtle. Offering a hands-on experience from an animal that is usually very dangerous.
I hope he always keeps this docile attitude.

Yeah, it's great that Tank is so docile. It's probably a lot easier holding him and presenting him than it would a normal snapping turtle. It would be kind of sad if Tank stopped being docile, but I'm sure he'll always be a good boy for you, Steve. You seem to bring out the best in everything.

Well, it's true. I mean, look at your radixes, Almost all of them seem to be the sweetest little snakes ever, and you don't seem to have too much trouble with taming them. I've Tried a lot of different things with Snap and she's pretty much gotten worse. When I hold her, she pulls the meanest look she possibly can (though, she looks cute doing it) and bites me when I hold her. That said, I leave her alone most of the time and I don't mind a lady with some attitude. You also have an amazing snapper, I think having a docile one is pretty rare
