Yeah well he is MUCH bigger already, he is over 12" and on a growth spurt, shedding every 2-3 weeks. The little flame used to be some what smaller but now the difference is huge. The accurate thermometer is 2.5 inches wide.

Oh yeah. "My" little concinnus baby is definitely on a roll. Better plan on having a 3 foot snake at least, by age 3 if you're skipping winter and feeding them a lot. I can't remember if this one I sent was a female but if it is, she's going to be huge (for a garter)

I can see you're taking very good care of them.

He is supposed to be male. If in doubt I will get him probed next year at the herp vet. Just measured him...14".

Hope I didn't just hijack your thread. I thought this was the one about coloring up comparisons. If I was wrong sorry!

Oh lordy. Poor guy. Might as well stick your finger up his nose. Honestly, it doesn't take probing. If I said he was a male than that is what he most likely is. Now that he has some size on him you could post pics and ask the forum. Please don't put him through probing. It's really not necessary.

Well, you can expect the growth spurts like this to go on for a couple of years before a lull of about 4-5 months where things slow down before picking up gradually again. The only difference with females is after about the 2 year mark, growth continues at a slightly higher rate than males, and tops out at a bigger size.
