    I may be wrong, but I haven't heard that they are recognised (by science) as distinct sub-species.

    I understood that there was a bit of debating going on at that time, but that they eventually were recognized, or rather kept, as two distinct subspecies.

    Didn't somebody say long ago that hybrids usually end up looking a lot like one of the parents, or did I just dream it?
