    My First Garter!

Hello, first time poster, I just got my first garter today, he is wild caught, and because he is my first garter, I was wondering what species he is, His/Her gender, and any tips on caring for Him/Her, as I have next to no experience keeping garters. Also on a side note He/Her seems to really like being handled, as well as eating earthworms in front of me.

Where are you from? My guess is a radix (Plains garter snake)
This site has one of the best garter caresheets around.

Hi, I forgot to mention, I'm from Vancouver Island Canada, if that helps identify the species.

Yes that does help. Thats puts you in the range of the northwestern garter(Thamnophis ordinoides)
The other garter species in that range are pickeringii and maybe fitchi...not 100% on that so i could be wrong.
    But do your research
