Is anybody breeding garters in the uk?

I'm finding very few for sale, and when I do there only seem to be checkerd garters available, not that I wouldn't want a checkerd. I just trying to find whats availabe, and ideally I want one from a very young age. I've never been fond of buying adult animals.

We plan to breed Radix and cuitzeos from next year and blacknecks in about two years time but we have nothing at the moment. Keep an eye out on RFUK, that's where we found four of our nine and they weren't checkereds. We have to checkereds by the way just coming up to a year old. They are lovely girls.

will do, thanks. I checked rfuk yesterday and it seemed pretty dry but i'll keep tabs on it. My local rep shop normally has a list i can browse of stuff they can order in and I know a couple of breeders but its just waiting for stuff to become available.

We hear of garters becoming available every now and again. At the moment we don't have space for more. If anyone offers me something interesting over the next few months I'll give you a shout.

There's a chance that JohnC (who stops by the forum occassionally) might have some Cuitzeos this year. He's got a pair that are a year older than ours.
Greg (in Scotland) looks like he may have some ribbons and checkered later in the year.

From July to October you'll find more around, this time of year it's a case of waiting to see which snakes are gravid and waiting to see if they produce.

I've heard from Alan Francis (*Garter Snake Home Page - Alan Francis) that he may have a few of the brighter species this season.

I keep looking at RFUK (despite having no space for more...) and find it depressing that there are so many royal pythons and so few garters.

Don't forget to go to the Doncaster show this September. There will be plenty of garters available there! (...if the females cooperate )
