    Sexing Thamnophis Marcianus help please

    Hi All

    Please help me sex my Garters, I have looked at the photos posted under sexing garters, but I don't have enough experience to confidently identify male or female, and I would really appreciate the assistance of more experienced keepers.

    First I bought this one 2 years ago as a baby and as female she is now a big girl (I hope)

    Then this is the baby I bought earlier this year as a partner,I really hope he is a male as he is 100% het for Albino (Albino's are not common in SA I have been trying to get one for the last 2 years)

    I took 3 photos hoping for a positive sexing ID

    Thanks in advance!

    @ndy

    The second girl didn't cooperate so much, but I think you have two females. I'm not 100% confident as the photos aren't quite square on.

    I agree with Chris, 2 females. Good eye Chris.

    First one is definitely female, as for the second I'm inclined to go with Steve and say female, but I have my doubts because of the specimens reluctance to cooperate in the picture.

    Thanks I will tray again with the second garter to get a better photo but I also suspected a female after looking at the photos on the forum.

    And I was so hoping its a male, but this gives me a reason to get another garter I want a male as well to breed with.

    Really hoping to get an albino this year.

    I'd also say female for both, but a straighter pic for the second would help.

    I'd say 2 females. The tail is usually thinner with females. Also, females tend to have "bonier" tails. Hope this helps!
