    Natrix spp. in the US?

I know that Thamnophis spp. are a big hit in Europe, but does anyone breed Natrix spp. in the US? I adore all Natracines and would love to acquire one or two Natrix natrix. Also, if anyone does keep them, how (if at all) does the husbandry differ from Thamnophis spp.?

Our member sirtalis01 was selling some a couple years back. You might drop him a PM. He might be able to help you find some.

They aren't bred by many people in the UK. Not surprisingly, natrix breeders often also keep thamnophis. Probably the most common are Viperine (Natrix maura), or Dice snakes (Natrix tessellata). Natrix natrix aren't so commonly kept, although one day I'd like to keep a Grass Snake (Natrix natrix helvetica) so that I can show people how wonderful our native snakes are.

Look on kingsnake.com someone has some for sale under the classifieds other section for a hefty price tag. I had a pair, but strangely mine just died at about 11 months old. Most if not all of their brothers and sisters died as well. I just kept feeding and feeding, but they wouldn't grow for some reason. Must have been something in that batch cause others said the same thing about them not growing. I do miss them though as they would hiss like little cobras and sometimes even play dead.
