Nice I hope someone got pictures... I miss the stories of James & our other European members visiting each other...

Oh. Because you know, it seems to me that, aside
from being a little mentally ill, she's pretty normal.

Dealing with a tragedy this morning. My daughter Hailee's snake is dieing.
Hailee caught Data(as she named her) in the back yard. Data wasn't very happy to be found and had quite an attitude for awhile but soon calmed down. That was 2 years ago.
This year I noticed Data was eating more then normal but not gaining any weight and actually losing some.
I gave her a round or Panacur thinking maybe I missed some parasites on the first round over a year ago.
    Nothing change after the treatment.
It was then I realized that Data was probably just an old snake at the end of her time.
I've seen this kind of thing in many elderly snakes.
I continued to pump the food in and over the last 2 weeks but the weight lose has gotten much worse.
Data is resting in the fridge at this time. I don't think there will be need for the freezer. She is very week and on the verge of death as I type.
Hailee is doing as well as a 10 year old girl can, at a time like this.

Just remember with each passing heartbreak, you're raising kids that will be well prepared and ready to deal with all of life's disappointments and tragedies. There is a reason for everything, even tragedy, and always value in every experience. Unpleasant or not. You know this, I know it, and now it's making for a future for your kids as adults that is rock-solid with all the necessary coping skills they need to be successful adults. It hurts, but it hurts good and makes one a stronger, more emotionally balanced and stable individual.

Just another way to look at it.

    Re: Ranch News

I kind of wish I was able to have experienced actual loss as a kid, as weird as that may sound. I killed plenty of animals on accident as a kid, without even realizing it... But my mom always told me she let them go out in the field, so they could live a happy life outside and that soon I'd see hamsters and guinea pigs running around the fields. Of course, the truth was they died. I get pretty unstable when things go wrong, and it's hard on me, obviously. In my opinion, sometimes loss is something we need in life, even if it's something we never want to feel. I think I'd have an easier time being less lazy if there was some actual punishment in my life, isn't that a little weird? Hah.

Fall must be close by as our girl Lucky has gone off food.
It's like clockwork for her. Same time every year.
Now Gabby and I will worry for the next month to month and a half.
I think Lucky does this just to get us upset.
Lucky have taken two years off from breeding so next year I think will try to get some beautiful albino hets from her.
Lucky has been with us for almost 4 years and has taught me so much about garter snake behavior.
I remember picking her up as a baby while I cut the grass.
Little did I know what a wonderful adventure we were going to have with her.
