we used to have a mare who had a series of false pregnancies. she'd get huge. and then it would just go away
but she'd had real pregnancies before, so that's different

I sure hope this isn't the case. If you remember last year comparing the figures shows a totally different picture.
She's gained more weight on less food than last year and her 'fast' only lasted 3 weeks compared to over 2 months now.
I do worry though ... if she's not produced anything by the end of next week I'll consult my vet for sure.

By the way, my tetrataenia threw slugs a few days ago. If only I had mated her... Would have beaten your Floridian form of garter snake.

Aye. Don't forget the N. mauras. Their eggs will probably hatch before this one pops and they haven't even been laid yet.

Gosh, I haven't been on in ages, and she looked ready to explode the last time I was on. I hope it's soon!

    Re: Waiting

    That is outrageous!

But no indication of total number. No indication of individual neotate size, no indication of "success" as measured by dead or deformed to healthy well developed offspring.

My concinnus always seeked out the cool side during delivery (70-75 degrees) while the newborn tended to leave mom and congregate on the other side, under the basking light at 80-85.

No weird muscle spasms or contracting yet? My females always appeared like they were a male trying to court a female, or a python guarding it's eggs. That would sometimes start up to 24 hours before the first neonate comes out.
