Why take it out? I wouldn't. He needs to drink.

Problem is he's in and out of the water every five minutes or so. There's no way he'd stay dry (also, he has neosporin on him, and I'm not crazy about it getting in his drinking water...). I'm putting it in for half an hour two or three times a day so he'll have time to drink, but not to soak.

    Sounds like a plan
If the shed is near you might wait on the Neo and let him shed.
This way you'll have a better look at the area.

Not only that, but if he's getting ready for a shed, doesn't he need to soak in water anyway?
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

Some soak and some don't. It's a snakes personal preference.

Definitely, and if temps go up too. That's pretty much the only time she'd chill out in her bowl.
