    Re: Wayne's Garter Snakes

Last night we found another baby loose on the floor in the reptile room.. When Copper had her babies, it seems that two of them found the small hole drilled in the rear of the viv where the electric cord passes, and squeezed out.

aside from dehydration, the little scrub was doing fine, I promptly put it in the water bowl, it drank a lot for a neonate.

    Wow, glad you found it.

Note to self--do no drill hole in baby cage.

The hole was in moms cage. she has the one my Savannah Monitor spent his youth in. It's quite big.

No reason to defend yourself Jesse.. I may seem harsh at times, but overall I try to be polite unless something gets under my skin.

The drill hole is under the aspen shavings, so I never even thought about it.

May be a good time to mention, I had to take the cage slightly apart because one of the babies had found a seam in the wood and got itself wedged into it.

This cage was definitely not designed to be a birthing cage for garters, Nothing a little hot glue couldn't fix.

Baby update, all have now eaten minnows.

Some of them are already displaying the bronze colour of the mother.
