hmmm, home made water containers? why not just a bowl?

yea yea i know all about that.... they fill their water bowls with bedding every day! We use bowls at work for the feeder mice, I must change that thing out 6 times a day!

How well I know that one Shannon. I have watched them start shoveling bedding into a water bowl SECONDS after changing it.

My male gopher snake does that. I clean it he dirties it with bedding just minutes after I put it in.

I've kinda deterred them... there's a platform of Popsicle sticks above the little "reservoir" with just a small hole for them to drink from. However, I do see a few pieces of bedding... Ugh...

i tried water bowls when i first started keeping feeder mice and rats (cheaper to buy by bulk) and it doesnt work. all the mice/rats would walk thru the bowl and pack it with bedding.

so now i use cheap water bottles found at walmart and havent had a problem yet, the female rat has chewd thru the plastic holder but i fixed that by hanging the bottle from the screen top with steel wire

I had to get a glass water bottle because the rats chewed hole in he bottle. I also throw in the cage a plastic Tums container and a stick of wood. It seems to help with the need to chew.

try poster mailing tubes also
it's a really hard thick cardboard which takes them a while to demolish, and they like to nest in the tunnels
I've gotten good at sawing up the longer pieces

hmmmm...he must like you better.....
