    Brumating Eastern Garters

Hi, this is my first time brumating. I was wondering how much should an adult/breeder weigh before brumation? What is the best way to brumate snakes (I'm probably going to crank up my refrigerator temperature and stick em each in a plastic bin with water from November to February)? I'm going to start brumating on November 1st, what day in October should their last feeding be? Any other important brumation would be appreciated.

Usually 2 weeks without food seems to be the standard used.

yeah 2 weeks without food is good. you just want to check on them about every week and you can change their water that often. Welcome to the forum!

I don't think there is a set weight. If the snake looks too lean/skinny I wouldn't brumate. I've held snakes out of brumation because they didn't put on enough weight after giving birth the year before. It's more of a look then a set weight for me.
    Just my opinion.

Which temperature does everyone brumate at? I was going to do 53º but just wanted a second opinion.

It can also depend on which species your are talking about. Northern species can be brumated at colder temps. Warmer climate species obviously need warmer tempts.
