Question can Checkered garter snake be kept in groups?

For instance, 2 males, and 2 females.
Would I have to control the genders? Like, less females then males?
And would accidental breeding occur and ill end up with a pregnant mother and then baby snakes?

Id love it if I could keep a bunch together in a roomy enclosure ^^

    Thanks.

If you don't want babies I would keep them separated by gender, but other than that they usually do well in groups.

If they are hatchlings to yearlings I'd say it's not a problem to house them together. Any older then that they should be separated as suggested. Males sexually mature quicker then females.

They are not just snakes. They're garter snakes.

Sometimes even cohabbing can be helpful for example for problem feeders. They tend to feel more comfortable (especially males) in groups. At the same time though sometimes you can one who just would rather be alone, every garter has a pretty unique personality on this. Some of them will eventually warm up to the idea some won't but for the most part they don't mind to love being cohabbed
