    Hello from New Brunswick, Canada

Hey everyone. I just joined the forum and thought i would introduce myself.

My name is Camille, Ive been keeping reptiles since 2003(My first rescue and lizard was an iguana named Iggy who was being kept in horrible conditions at my high school) and am recently married to the love of my life whom i met on a Reptile Forum of all places. He has been keeping reptiles since 1973. We've been together for 5 years and our family has steadily grown.

My husband is from Newfoundland where they have no native snakes in the wild. So ever since he moved down to New Brunswick with me ive been trying to help him see a snake in the wild but every year we would miss peek season at my moms place(My mothers place is a huge breeding ground for garter snakes, if there at the right time you can see large groups of them together anywhere you lift a rock. Its in the middle of nowhere and also right next to a swamp which is perfect habitat) This year the day before our wedding, within 5 minuts Al managed to find one, and then during the evening kept on finding them. we must have found adleast 20. In the end we decided to keep 2 females that seemed to be really good temperament wise. One ate a fish fillet first try the other showed interest and ate second try. and this morning we woke up to find MINIMUM 4 baby garters in the tank(We have aspen and alot of hiding spots so they might be hiding). Al has already made the trout gelly and were hoping that the garters take well to it.

They are Thamnophis Seralis but were not sure if their maritimes(Almost 100% sure as i think thats the only garter we have here.

Here are some photos of the first day they arrived

One of the girls in a temporary tub. they both got switched into a 15 gallon tank their currently sharing and we have plans of building them a 4 foot custom cage eventually

Yes, welcome! and... What Steve said^^^

I must also add that I think those pretty much look like typical eastern garters rather than maritimes, but I'm no expert.

we only have maritime's up here in new Brunswick(We're next to nova scotia and Main also). other than that we have ring-necks, greens and there's been rumors that ribbon snakes have migrated into new Brunswick from nova scotia but no confirmation on that rumor yet.

    Welcome!
Lovely pictures- I particularly like the 'double portrait' in the temporary tub. and the one where they are moving towards a hand.
    Really nice!
